Credentials
Katherine is a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). She is also a Board Certified-Music Therapist (MT-BC) and an ordained deacon in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Katherine holds an advanced certificate in Self Psychology and Religion from the Center of Religion and Psychotherapy of Chicago. Prior to joining SCG, she worked as a music therapist in community mental health and hospital/hospice settings.
Education
Katherine received her Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. She completed her Bachelor of Music Therapy degree at Appalachian State University. Katherine completed her clinical counseling training at The Center for Religion and Psychotherapy of Chicago and clinical pastoral education at UNC Rex Hospital. Katherine joined Sanctuary Counseling Group in 2020.
Specialties
Katherine works with adults, adolescents, and couples. She specializes in working with clients struggling with anxiety, life transitions, depression, grief and loss, and marital issues. Katherine has experience in the areas of mood disorders, adjustment disorders, faith development, self-esteem improvement, relationship development, and meaning-making. Katherine is a level two brainspotting practitioner and NARM informed in aid in treating complex trauma. She also specializes in incorporating music therapy interventions into her work with adults and adolescents.
