Credentials

JoAnn is a North Carolina Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She has additional training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Forgiveness Model. She also has been trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). In 2018, JoAnn co-presented at the AAPC-SE annual conference on issues facing mixed orientation couples as well as sexuality in the Evangelical context.

Education

JoAnn earned her Master’s of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pfeiffer University in 2019 and was awarded the honor of Student of the Year by the faculty. While in graduate school, JoAnn completed her externship at Atrium Main in the Surgical Trauma ICU and Progressive Care Units. At Pfeiffer's on-site clinic she worked with individuals, couples, children, and extended family members. JoAnn completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

JoAnn applies a systemic lens to presenting issues and enjoys working with individuals of all ages, couples, families, and extended families. She specializes in couples counseling, parenting, children's issues, sexuality and spirituality. JoAnn's counseling approaches include Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Experiential Therapy, and mindfulness interventions. JoAnn has experience in counseling those facing issues with anxiety, depression, communication, sexuality, spirituality, loss/grief, trauma, childhood abuse, infidelity, and separation/divorce.
